Corporate Buyers Return to Bitcoin as Price Surges Past $80,500
Two major corporate holders of Bitcoin have made significant purchases in recent days. Strategy Inc., which holds more than 846,000 BTC, acquired 950 BTC for $75.7 million between Sept. 14 and Sept. 20 at an average price of $79,670.
The purchase marked a return to accumulation by the company after it had been directing capital away from Bitcoin to manage its securities. Strategy has spent months trying to keep its STRC preferred stock near its $100 par value through buybacks and changes to its capital framework.
Strive Inc., another major corporate holder of BTC, also made a purchase, buying 1,355 BTC for $107.7 million at an average price of $79,475 between Sept. 14 and Sept. 18.
The purchases by Strategy and Strive were made below Bitcoin's current market price, which surged above $85,000 on Monday, its highest level since January.
