Cortez Masto Backs Revised Clarity Act Amid Bipartisan Progress

Share

A bipartisan bill aimed at clarifying crypto regulations in the US has received backing from Democratic Senator Catherine Cortez Masto. She, along with two law enforcement groups, feel 'good' about proposed changes to the Clarity Act, according to a report.

The changes were sent to the White House and aim to address concerns over protecting some crypto software developers and firms from being prosecuted for illicit activity committed by others on platforms they create. The revised bill also includes new ethics provisions that ban officials and their families from issuing or promoting crypto.

The Clarity Act has been a long-awaited piece of legislation, passed last year by the House of Representatives but stalled in 2026 due to disagreements over stablecoins and ethical issues.
