Tether, the issuer of the world's largest stablecoin USDT, has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) to explore blockchain-powered market infrastructure and tokenized securities.

The non-binding agreement aims to improve operational efficiency and support transparency, accountability, and data privacy, according to Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino.

The MoU outlines cooperation across four main pillars: the issuance of tokenized securities, blockchain-based market infrastructure, instant settlement mechanisms, and digital asset education for investors and brokers.

The NSE will examine technologies that could modernize market infrastructure and improve operational efficiency, as part of its 2025-2029 strategic plan, said NSE CEO Frank Mwiti.
