The Cosmos EVM module has been hit by a security incident, prompting affected chains to halt validators while an investigation continues. The incident marks the second major security issue for the Cosmos EVM ecosystem this year.

Cosmos Labs confirmed the ongoing security incident and is actively responding with its security and engineering teams. Chains connected to the Cosmos EVM that are in contact with Cosmos Labs have been advised to instruct their validators to halt operations immediately.

No specific vulnerability has been disclosed, and no affected chain names or loss figures have been released. However, the company has committed to publishing a full post-mortem analysis once the incident is resolved.

The Cosmos EVM ecosystem has experienced security issues this year, including a January exploit involving the SagaEVM implementation that caused approximately $7 million in losses. In August, MANTRA Chain and TAC also halted their chains due to security incidents related to the Cosmos EVM module.
