Cosmos Hub Neutron Attack Sees $1.2M in ATOM Recovered

The Cosmos Hub was hit by a Neutron attack on September 22, 2026, when an attacker exploited a governance proposal to seize admin control over Astroport contracts and other protocols.

Roughly 1.73 million ATOM tied to the exploit reached the Cosmos Hub, but the hub itself was not compromised, and no user funds were affected.

The attacker had already begun moving stolen ATOM via the $ATOM cross-chain bridge to the Hub.

In total, around 1.2 million ATOM were recovered from the multisig held by Nansen, Keplr, Enigma, Silknodes, Kiln, and Polkachu, marking one of the fastest validator-coordinated recoveries in recent times.
