Cosmos Hub Proposes Transfer of 1.2M Recovered ATOM Tokens
Cosmos Hub has taken a significant step forward in recovering funds lost during the September Neutron exploit. On October 5, 2023, a governance proposal was introduced to transfer 1,227,121 recovered ATOM tokens to a Neutron Recovery multisig. This follows the network's response to the attack, where validators halted the chain and moved the remaining stolen ATOM into a 4-of-6 recovery multisig, enhancing security for affected DeFi contracts.
The recovered tokens were secured after the stolen ATOM reached a Hub address. The proposal aims to allow the multisig signers to transfer the recovered balance, minus network fees, to the Neutron recovery multisig. The next phase will involve Neutron governance to return the funds to the impacted contracts. This development coincides with ATOM's price nearing a crucial technical resistance, potentially providing a bullish catalyst for the token.
ATOM is currently trading around $1.80, forming a symmetrical triangle on the daily chart. The token faces resistance at $1.84, $1.86, with a decisive breakout zone at $1.90, $1.95. A successful move above $1.90 could target $2.00, while immediate support is at $1.75, $1.80, followed by $1.60, $1.65. The ongoing recovery and governance progress could bolster investor confidence and drive sustained buying momentum.
The broader outlook for ATOM is improving as technical indicators strengthen and Cosmos advances key recovery initiatives. Successful resolution of the Neutron incident, along with stronger ecosystem activity and progress on tokenomics, could transition ATOM from a recovery phase into a broader trend reversal.
