Cosmos Secures Stolen ATOM, Refunds Hang on Governance Vote

Cosmos has successfully intercepted 1.23 million stolen ATOM following a Sept. 22 governance attack on Neutron.

The attacker exploited administrative control over contracts used by Astroport and other protocols to move roughly 1.73 million ATOM from Neutron to the Cosmos Hub, but validators secured 1,227,121.37 ATOM in an emergency software patch.

However, the six signers holding the recovery multisig say they will wait for a passed Cosmos Hub governance proposal before releasing the funds to affected users and protocols.

This condition separates the emergency action validators took from the decision over who should receive the money. The patch did not identify every valid claimant or approve a distribution schedule.
