Counterfeit GIWA Network Scam Nets Nearly $2 Million in Ethereum

A nearly $2 million Ethereum (ETH) heist has been uncovered on a counterfeit GIWA network, highlighting vulnerabilities in network security.

The scam occurred when users were misled into bridging funds through an unofficial RPC on the fake network, which operated with chain ID 9134 - one digit shorter than GIWA Sepolia's 91342.

GIAW publicly warned its users against believing any claims of possessing mainnet RPC information, emphasizing their commitment to user fund safety amidst rising impersonation threats.

DYORSWAP has begun reimbursing affected users with over 200 ETH from its own funds, demonstrating accountability and a commitment to network security as investigations continue.
