CRCL Soars on $1B+ Patent Acquisition from IBM

Circle Internet Group (CRCL) stock jumped 4.69% to $65.29 after acquiring IBM's blockchain patent portfolio, expanding its onchain finance strategy.

The acquisition adds over 680 patent families and nearly 1,000 issued patents to Circle's portfolio, which now holds the largest U.S. blockchain patent portfolio.

Circle plans to use these patents to strengthen its financial infrastructure business and expand services around USDC, Circle Payments Network, Arc, and other blockchain products.
