Cronos Network Unveils Version 1.8 Upgrade with Significant Performance Gains

Cronos Network has announced its version 1.8 software upgrade, set to deploy on testnet on September 30 and mainnet on October 22.

The upgrade is expected to deliver significant performance gains, with median block times up by approximately 20% and sustained throughput increasing by up to 66%, according to mainnet simulations.

Version 1.8 includes several key updates, including the replacement of the networking stack with libp2p and the addition of an application-side mempool to reduce latency.
