Cronos Plunges Amid US Regulatory Scrutiny of Crypto.com
Cronos (CRO) dropped by 6.9% over the last 24 hours due to US regulatory scrutiny of Crypto.com, according to CoinMarketCap.
The price movement showed a controlled repricing rather than a flash crash, with CRO falling from around $0.07164 to $0.06693 between September 29th at 12:05pm UTC and September 30th at 11:55am UTC.
The decline was triggered by the US House Oversight Committee expanding an insider-trading probe into prediction markets, including Crypto.com, on September 29th. The committee is focusing on identity verification, geographic restrictions, and suspicious trading activity on these platforms.
The market-wide context does not show a matching move to fully explain CRO's underperformance. Over the same period, the total crypto market cap slipped only about 0.61%, while altcoin market cap ticked up around 0.86%.
