Crypto Advocates Target Senators' Votes Ahead of Midterm Elections
Crypto advocacy group Stand With Crypto has vowed to track senators' votes on the stalled CLARITY Act in its lawmaker scorecards ahead of November's midterm elections.
The motion to take up H.R. 3633, which needed 60 votes for cloture, failed 49-50 on September 15, with every Democrat and four Republicans voting no.
Executive director Mason Lynaugh called the result 'a failure of leadership' for what the group counts as 67 million crypto-owning Americans, who have waited years for basic clarity to use, build, and invest in digital assets safely.
The bill's ethics provisions were cited by Democrats as a reason for opposition, with some arguing that language fell short on conflicts of interest tied to senior officials' digital asset ventures, including the president's.
