Crypto Billionaire Sues Actress Over $4.2 Million Betrothal Gift
Crypto billionaire Justin Sun has filed a lawsuit against Chinese actress Jing Tian and her parents seeking the return of 30 million yuan, approximately 6.1 billion won, which he claims was given as caili - a traditional Chinese betrothal payment.
Sun, the founder of blockchain platform TRON, alleges that he transferred the money to Jing's family during their courtship, with plans to marry. However, the relationship soured when Jing's side demanded $50 million in connection with surrogacy while Sun was preparing medical procedures in the US.
Sun claims to have sought advice from Claude, an artificial intelligence model developed by Anthropic, and decided not to pay the demand. The court has accepted Sun's filing, and the case is ongoing.
