Crypto Campaign Efforts Suffer Rare Loss in US Congress
Crypto's campaign efforts have seen a rare loss in the US Congress, but the industry's presence on Capitol Hill is likely to grow. According to data from OpenSecrets, the crypto lobby spent over $2 million on federal lobbying efforts last year, with some notable successes.
The American Blockchain and Cryptocurrency Association (ABCA) reported that several of its endorsed candidates won their elections in 2024, including Rep. Tom Emmer (R-MN). However, the ABCA also noted a rare loss in the form of a defeated crypto-backed Senate candidate.
Crypto advocates are optimistic about the growing number of lawmakers with ties to the industry, which could lead to more favorable regulations and policies. As one insider noted, 'a critical mass of members who understand this space is developing.'
