Crypto.com Secures SEC Registration for Stock Futures Trading
Crypto.com's US derivatives division has secured SEC registration for stock futures trading under the OG.com brand. The platform, led by CEO Kris Marszalek, aims to provide single-stock futures to US traders.
The SEC formally recognized the platform's registration documentation on September 16, two days after OG.com submitted Form 1-N, the registration mechanism for national securities exchanges for futures trading. This marks a significant step towards Crypto.com's goal of offering stock futures and perpetual futures contracts in the US market.
Marszalek emphasized that the platform is working with both the SEC and CFTC to secure approval for single-stock perpetual futures trading, which would merge innovations from digital asset trading with traditional US capital markets. The proposed products have already gained traction internationally, but remain relatively uncommon in individual equity trading within the United States.
Crypto.com is not alone in this pursuit, as competitors such as Coinbase and Kraken are also exploring similar strategies to integrate stock products into crypto exchanges. Robinhood has established a partnership with Crypto.com and OG.com, acquiring equity positions in both entities, further highlighting the trend of cryptocurrency platforms expanding their offerings to include equity-based instruments.
