Crypto DATs Hit $340B Market Cap as Altcoins Outperform Bitcoin Peers
Crypto digital asset treasury companies have reached a combined market capitalization of $340 billion as of late August 2026, up 10% from mid-month levels.
This represents a significant milestone for the sector, although it still lags behind its prior peak in October and November 2025 when Bitcoin (BTC) traded at an all-time high around $126,000.
The combined market cap has been driven by strong performances from newer altcoin-focused treasury companies such as CYPH and PURR. CYPH, which holds Zcash (ZEC), returned 142% this cycle, while PURR, which holds Hyperliquid (HYPE), returned 62%
The structure of altcoin treasury companies allows them to take on roles within their respective blockchains that a Bitcoin treasury company cannot. This includes participating in governance voting, running mining operations, and staking ETH to help secure the Ethereum blockchain.
