Crypto Economy Endures Market Downturn, Stablecoin Usage Soars
The global crypto economy showed surprising resilience despite a significant market downturn in the past year. According to Chainalysis, the total value of crypto activity remained at $9.4 trillion between July 2025 and June 2026, even as the market lost nearly half its value.
This stability can be attributed to an increase in stablecoin usage. Cross-border transfers involving these dollar-linked digital assets rose by a staggering 77.5% to $220.3 billion.
Brazil topped the list of countries with the highest crypto adoption, while Nigeria ranked third and led in domestic P2P and cross-border activity. The report highlighted that stablecoins accounted for 96% of domestic peer-to-peer activity, indicating a significant shift towards these assets.
