Crypto ETFs Broaden Beyond Bitcoin and Ethereum
Cryptocurrency exchange-traded products have expanded beyond their early focus on Bitcoin and Ethereum. By 2026, investors can access products tied to multiple digital assets, including XRP, Solana, and Chainlink.
The launch of US spot Bitcoin ETFs in January 2024 paved the way for similar products tied to other cryptocurrencies. Franklin Templeton's Crypto Index ETF lists Bitcoin, Ethereum, XRP, and Solana, with its XRP ETF holding approximately $363.11 million in net assets as of September 15.
The evolution of crypto ETFs is not limited to adding more cryptocurrencies. Some products now incorporate crypto-native economic features, such as staking. Franklin's Solana ETF seeks to track SOL while staking up to 100% of the fund's Solana holdings.
