Crypto Exchange Bitget Tackles Industry-Wide Gender Gap with Blockchain4Her Initiative
Bitget's Blockchain4Her initiative aims to address the gender gap in cryptocurrency adoption by providing education and access, equal opportunity, and zero tolerance for workplace harassment. According to a study by Bitget, women account for roughly a quarter of cryptocurrency users globally, despite being expected to control more than $83 trillion in wealth by 2030.
The exchange is backing the initiative with a $10 million Blockchain4Her program and an existing UNICEF partnership targeting blockchain education for 1.1 million people by 2027. The UNICEF partnership specifically targets girls and young women, with approximately 90% of participants expected to be female.
The study also found that female-led blockchain startups receive approximately 6% of total industry funding, despite broader research suggesting female founders generate higher returns per dollar invested.
