Crypto Exchanges Must Diversify to Stay Ahead

Share

Bitget's CEO Gracy Chen says that the era of pure crypto exchanges is over. According to her, these platforms are approaching a structural ceiling and must expand into traditional assets and compliance-driven models to remain competitive.

In an interview with Yellow.com, Chen stated, 'I don't think the pure crypto-native altcoin market is going to grow that much.'

She believes that exchanges need to diversify into new asset classes and financial products to stay ahead. Bitget itself has repositioned as a Universal Exchange (UEX), offering crypto alongside U.S. equities and other global assets tradable via stablecoins.

The company is not just rebranding, but also making operational changes to support this shift. Chen acknowledged that pursuing compliance requires trade-offs, citing the example of exiting France and Germany due to regulatory complexity in 2022.
