He had been promoting crypto-friendly policies throughout his campaign.

Thanedar's opponent, Donovan McKinney, won the election by criticizing the crypto industry's political donations as 'lobbying for corporate interests.'

The election results were announced on August 5, with McKinney securing 51.9% of the vote. Thanedar had been seen as a key figure in promoting cryptocurrency policies in Congress.
