Crypto Group Fairshake Pours Millions into Bipartisan House Races
A major cryptocurrency campaign organization, Fairshake, has unveiled a bipartisan list of House candidates it will support in the upcoming November midterms. The group plans to back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in support. All 32 candidates supported key legislation that was a priority for the crypto industry.
The announcement comes after a mixed legislative year for the crypto industry, as significant regulatory framework legislation stalled in Congress. Fairshake's spending pales in comparison to its largest investment so far, a nearly $30 million campaign against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio. Brown faced similar spending in 2024 when he lost to Republican Bernie Moreno, and the industry has targeted him again after Senate Democrats blocked the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.
Fairshake plans to spend heavily in several competitive House races, with three Republicans and three Democrats receiving the most support. On the Democratic side, Reps. Janelle Bynum of Oregon, Steven Horsford of Nevada, and Derek Tran of California will each get $1 million. On the Republican side, Reps. French Hill of Arkansas, Bryan Steil of Wisconsin, and Bill Huizenga of Michigan will receive the same level of support.
The organization emphasizes its bipartisan approach, highlighting its investments in primaries and special elections this year. Fairshake and its affiliated groups spent $40 million supporting 29 Democrats and $31 million supporting 28 Republicans. The group's spokesperson, Geoff Vetter, stated that Fairshake is an issue-focused organization that backs pro-crypto candidates in both parties.
