Crypto group Fairshake to spend millions on bipartisan House races
A leading cryptocurrency advocacy group, Fairshake, is set to invest millions in a bipartisan group of House candidates ahead of the November midterms. The group has unveiled a list of 32 House members, 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, it will support, with six receiving $1 million each. All 32 lawmakers backed legislation critical to the crypto industry, which has seen mixed progress in Congress.
The spending plan contrasts with Fairshake’s earlier announcement to spend nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio. Brown faced significant crypto-related spending in 2024, losing to Republican Bernie Moreno. The industry’s focus on Brown intensified after Senate Democrats blocked the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at creating a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.
Among the top recipients of Fairshake’s support are Reps. Janelle Bynum (D-Oregon), Steven Horsford (D-Nevada), and Derek Tran (D-California) on the Democratic side, and Reps. French Hill (R-Arkansas), Bryan Steil (R-Wisconsin), and Bill Huizenga (R-Michigan) on the Republican side. Fairshake emphasized its bipartisan approach, highlighting its support for 29 Democrats and 28 Republicans in primaries and special elections this year.
Geoff Vetter, a Fairshake spokesperson, stated, 'Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties.' The group has reported about $120 million in cash on hand, though it has not disclosed further spending plans for the House or Senate races before November.
