Crypto Group Fairshake to Spend Millions on Bipartisan House Races
A leading cryptocurrency campaign organization, Fairshake, has announced plans to support a bipartisan group of House candidates in the upcoming midterm elections. The group will back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in campaign support. All 32 candidates supported the industry's top legislative priority, which stalled in Congress this year.
The announcement comes after Fairshake spent nearly $30 million against Democratic Senate candidate Sherrod Brown in Ohio, following Senate Democrats' blockage of the CLARITY Act. This act aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets. Fairshake had previously spent nearly $40 million against Brown in 2024, helping Republican Bernie Moreno defeat him.
Fairshake's spending will focus on competitive House races, with three Republicans and three Democrats receiving the most support. The group emphasizes its bipartisan approach, highlighting its investments in primaries and special elections this year. Geoff Vetter, a spokesperson for Fairshake, stated, "Fairshake has always been and always will be an issue-focused organization. We back pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation in both parties."
Senate Democrats' decision to block the CLARITY Act has drawn criticism from Democratic Senate candidate Ruben Gallego in Arizona. Gallego called the move "dumb politics," arguing that it will make future negotiations harder and result in a less favorable deal for the industry.
