Crypto Group Fairshake to Spend Millions on Bipartisan House Races
A major cryptocurrency campaign group, Fairshake, has revealed a bipartisan list of House candidates it plans to support in the upcoming November midterms. The group will back 19 Republicans and 13 Democrats, with six members receiving $1 million each in support. All 32 candidates supported legislation that was a key priority for the crypto industry.
Fairshake's spending in these House races comes after a significant investment in the Ohio Senate race, where the group pledged nearly $30 million against Democratic candidate Sherrod Brown. Brown had previously faced nearly $40 million in crypto-related spending during his 2024 race, which he lost. The industry moved against Brown after Senate Democrats blocked the CLARITY Act, which aimed to establish a federal regulatory framework for digital assets.
The group emphasized its bipartisan approach, highlighting its support for both Democratic and Republican candidates in previous elections. Fairshake has spent over $40 million on 29 Democratic candidates and $31 million on 28 Republican candidates in primaries and special elections this year. The organization claims to have won 53 of the 57 races it engaged in this cycle.
Fairshake's spending could significantly impact several competitive House races. On the Democratic side, Reps. Janelle Bynum of Oregon, Steven Horsford of Nevada, and Derek Tran of California will each receive $1 million in support. On the Republican side, Reps. French Hill of Arkansas, Bryan Steil of Wisconsin, and Bill Huizenga of Michigan will also get $1 million each. The group did not disclose how much it plans to spend on the remaining 26 candidates.
