Crypto Groups Gear Up for Midterm Battles After CLARITY Act Vote
The U.S. Senate's recent decision to let the Digital Asset Market Clarity (CLARITY) Act stall has had an unexpected consequence for crypto industry groups.
The bill, which aimed to provide greater clarity on digital asset markets, was voted down by a margin of one vote, with 49 senators in favor and 50 against advancing it.
As a result, major crypto-aligned Political Action Committees (PACs) are recalibrating their midterm strategy, betting that lawmakers' voting records will shape who receives financial support or faces opposition.
Fairshake, backed by Coinbase and Ripple Labs, plans to spend $30 million opposing Ohio Senator Sherrod Brown in the 2026 Senate race. Brown has previously supported policies seen as hostile to crypto and has been a key target for Fairshake's efforts in previous elections.
