Crypto Hacking Losses Surge 462% to $766M in September
In September 2026, the cryptocurrency industry was hit by 55 major hacking attacks, resulting in total losses of $766.49 million.
This represents a massive increase of 462% from August's losses, which stood at around $136.3 million.
The bulk of these losses came from two incidents: the Bitget hack and the bitcoin outflow from the Liquid Network.
The largest incident was the Bitget hack, which saw attackers move funds out of the exchange's hot and warm wallets across several networks, resulting in estimated losses of $388 million.
