Crypto Industry Drops $30M to Keep Brown Out of Senate
The cryptocurrency industry is backing a super PAC with $30 million to keep Democrat Sherrod Brown out of the U.S. Senate, marking its largest commitment against any single candidate in the 2026 midterms.
This is not the first time Fairshake has poured tens of millions into Ohio to stop Brown. In 2024, it spent around $40 million helping Republican Bernie Moreno defeat Brown, who was then chairman of the Senate Banking Committee and a prominent critic of cryptocurrency regulation.
Despite shifting his stance on crypto, Brown remains a target for Fairshake, which is backed by major players in the industry including Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and venture-capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. With over $90 million remaining in its war chest after committing $30 million against Brown, Fairshake still has significant resources to devote to the election.
