Crypto Industry Moves Forward Without Washington's Permission
The cryptocurrency industry's wait for regulatory clarity may be over. Despite the Senate failing to pass legislation that would have established a framework for digital assets, several companies are moving forward with new products and partnerships.
S&P Global acquired OpenZeppelin, a blockchain security company, on September 17th to expand its risk assessment business to on-chain financial products. The same day, Circle introduced Arc, a blockchain designed for financial markets, real-time money movement, and agentic economic activity.
Coinbase moved ahead with a product designed to put crypto inside community banks on September 16th, and reportedly requested regulatory approval to list perpetual futures tied to individual large-cap U.S. stocks on Friday, September 18th.
