Crypto Industry Reactions Mixed After Clarity Act Fails in Senate
The Clarity Act failed to advance in the Senate on Tuesday, a setback for the crypto industry's push to establish market-structure rules through legislation.
Crypto executives reacted to the news with measured tones, emphasizing that the failure does not unwind regulatory progress already underway at the SEC and CFTC.
Connor Howe, Co-Founder & CEO of Enso, noted that the vote's impact is largely symbolic, as agency rules can be rewritten by a new administration, whereas legislation would provide a more permanent framework.
Barnali Biswal, CEO of Hilbert Group, also downplayed the significance of the vote, pointing out that major bank trade groups were lobbying against the stablecoin yield language right up to the vote, and that this fight is unlikely to go away.
