Crypto Industry's Resilience Shifts US Politicians' Views
Marc Andreessen, co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz (a16z), believes that the resilience of the cryptocurrency industry has shifted U.S. politicians' views on the sector.
In an appearance on the 'a16z Crypto Show', Andreessen argued that the Biden administration's tough regulatory stance actually proved the crypto industry's durability.
'An administration at the White House decided to kill this industry,' he said, noting that the approach focused on post-hoc punishment and indictments rather than building a regulatory framework.
The fact that the industry survived such pressure has changed perceptions in Washington politics, with some lawmakers now seeing the sector as necessary and competitive.
Andreessen cited conversations with lawmakers who told him 'If it didn’t die even when we were trying to kill it, it could be a decent industry,' and are now willing to support crypto.
