Crypto Industry's Voter Claims Face Scrutiny Amid Polling Discrepancy
The crypto industry has been touting its potential to influence the midterms through a massive voting bloc, but independent polling paints a very different picture.
According to Stand With Crypto, an advocacy group that's become a leading voice in crypto politics, nearly 3 million US advocates are ready to vote on digital asset policy. The group claims that 70% of crypto owners say a candidate's stance on legislation like the CLARITY Act will sway their vote, with 80% saying they're 'almost certain' to show up.
However, independent research conducted by Politico and Public First in May found that just 4% of Americans would consider crypto policy when choosing candidates. Even among people who trade digital assets, only 7% said it was an important factor.
This discrepancy is significant: the industry's internal enthusiasm appears to be roughly 10-17 times higher than what neutral polling detects in the broader population.
