Yuval Rooz, co-founder and CEO of Digital Asset, emphasized the need for the crypto industry to accelerate institutional adoption to solidify its position against potential policy shifts in the U.S. Speaking at Token2049 in Singapore, Rooz argued that widespread blockchain adoption could make it difficult for future administrations to reverse the industry’s progress. He highlighted the 2028 U.S. presidential election as a critical juncture, suggesting that by then, blockchain should be so deeply integrated that rolling back its progress would be nearly impossible.
Rooz drew parallels to companies like Uber and Airbnb, which became so entrenched that regulators struggled to restrict them. He suggested that similar widespread adoption could shield the crypto industry from regulatory challenges. His comments followed the failure of the CLARITY Act to advance in the Senate procedural vote in September, leaving the SEC and CFTC to push forward with crypto regulations under their existing authority.
During the same panel, Binance co-CEO Richard Teng expressed hope that the CLARITY Act would still become law, arguing that legislation could prevent regulatory backtracking and encourage institutional participation. He described the fear of reversing current progress as the industry’s biggest concern. Meanwhile, Franklin Templeton CEO Jenny Johnson cautioned against relying solely on the CLARITY Act, noting that the SEC and CFTC were already working to provide regulatory clarity to foster innovation and adoption.
