Crypto Lobby Exerts Pressure on Senate for Clarity Act Vote
More than 200 crypto companies and organizations are urging the Senate to bring the CLARITY Act to a floor vote, following its passage in the committee with a 15-9 vote. The bill still needs 60 votes to clear the full Senate. Developers' protections have become a central bargaining chip in negotiations.
The White House is hosting law enforcement groups on Wednesday to discuss concerns about illicit finance. Several Democrats have warned they will not support the legislation unless law enforcement's concerns are addressed.
Crypto lobby members include Coinbase, Galaxy, Zcash, Ripple, Kraken, Circle, and Binance, among others, with the effort led by Stand With Crypto's Mason Lynaugh, the Blockchain Association's Summer Mersinger, the Crypto Council for Innovation's Ji Hun Kim, and the Digital Chamber's Cody Carbone.
