Crypto Market Adds $330 Billion as CLARITY Act Falters
Crypto markets have rebounded sharply since the Senate's procedural vote against the CLARITY Act, adding $330 billion in value. Bitcoin has recovered above $87,000 after falling following the vote. The cryptocurrency's price surge is accompanied by substantial short-position liquidations, with over $740 million in short positions forcibly closed during a 24-hour period.
Coin Bureau highlighted the contrast between the legislative setback and the subsequent market rebound. The account reported that major digital assets also recorded gains, including Ethereum, XRP, and Solana, which rose by 5%, 8%, and 7% respectively. This marks a sharp reversal from the market reaction immediately following the Senate vote.
The GENIUS Act is cited as an example of cryptocurrency legislation that initially encountered resistance before eventually advancing. However, it remains unclear whether the CLARITY Act will follow the same path, given its different focus and current legislative status.
