Crypto Market Bloodbath: BTC and ETH Plummet Amid Global Economic Uncertainty
The cryptocurrency market has taken a sharp downturn, with Bitcoin and Ethereum experiencing significant losses. Bitcoin's price plummeted to levels not seen since February, while Ethereum fell back to December prices.
BTC maximalists had been expecting a colossal surge in the market, but their hopes were dashed as the price dropped 12% in 24 hours and 20% week-over-week. In contrast, Ethereum suffered an even greater decline, plummeting 21% in a day and losing 30% of its value over the past week.
The CoinDesk 20 Index also took a hit, falling 12% in 24 hours. This downturn is attributed to several factors, including the Bank of Japan's recent interest rate hike, which caused the yen to rise and the Nikkei stock index to tank.
