Crypto Market Nears $3 Trillion But Bull Run Remains Uncertain
The crypto market is nearing the $3 trillion mark, with Bitcoin leading the charge as it trades in the mid-$80,000s. However, a broader bull run has yet to materialize. Data from CoinGecko shows that as of October 5, the global crypto market was valued at approximately $2.98 trillion, with Bitcoin representing around 57% of that value. CryptoQuant’s analysis indicates that apparent Bitcoin demand improved by roughly 81,000 BTC from September 24 to October 1, though it remained negative.
The distinction between a rally and a bull run is critical. A rally is a price move over a specific period, while a bull run requires sustained demand and participation across multiple assets. For a market-wide bull run to be confirmed, non-stablecoin values and spot demand need to rise consistently over several weeks. October’s inflation data and Federal Reserve decisions will be key tests for the market’s direction.
U.S. spot Bitcoin ETFs saw significant inflows of $2.39 billion from September 21 to 25, followed by a $148.7 million outflow on September 30. These fund flows, along with inflation reports and Fed rate decisions scheduled for October 14 and 28, respectively, will provide further clarity on market sentiment. The next bull run’s start date remains uncertain, as current data does not yet support a definitive claim.
