Crypto Market Recovers from Dip as Bitcoin and Ether Hold Key Levels
The cryptocurrency market experienced a volatile week, recovering from a $50 billion dip driven by macroeconomic factors. By the end of the week, the total market cap rebounded to nearly flat, finishing at $2.99 trillion. Bitcoin played a key role in this recovery, gaining 1% to reach $85,500 by October 4, which helped lift the overall market capitalization.
Altcoins showed mixed performance, with the market cap dropping slightly from $1.3 trillion to $1.285 trillion. Ether saw a modest gain of 0.4%, reaching $2,700, while Quant surged 39% and Zcash plummeted 17%. Traders are closely monitoring early signs of the traditionally strong month of October, known as “Uptober,” to determine if top digital assets can sustain their gains into the fourth quarter.
Bitcoin's price action was particularly volatile, dipping below $83,000 before rallying to $87,217 on October 2. Despite surrendering some gains, it closed the week at $85,500, securing a modest weekly gain. Other high-cap altcoins like BNB saw gains exceeding 1%, but several others, including Zcash, Rain, Near, and Uniswap, experienced significant losses.
The mixed performance among altcoins dragged their aggregate market cap down to $1.285 trillion by Sunday. Despite the volatility, the market showed resilience, ending the week nearly flat and setting the stage for potential gains in the coming months.
