In the past 24 hours, the cryptocurrency market saw $239 million in liquidations, according to data from Bitget. This comes amid broader market movements that saw exchange-traded funds (ETFs) and US equities rise after midday on Monday, October 5, 2026.
Broad-market ETFs like IWM and IVV posted gains, while the actively traded Invesco QQQ Trust (QQQ) added 0.6%. The rise in US equity indexes was accompanied by an increase in government bond yields and a decline in crude oil prices. Energy-focused ETFs, including the iShares US Energy ETF (IYE) and the State Street Energy Select Sector SPDR (XLE), each rose by about 1.1%.
Technology sector ETFs saw mixed results. The State Street Technology Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLK) gained 0.4%, while the iShares US Technology ETF (IYW) and the iShares Expanded Tech Sector ETF (IGM) each added 0.6%. Conversely, the State Street SPDR S&P Semiconductor (XSD) slipped 0.6%, and the iShares Semiconductor (SOXX) fell 0.2%.
In the cryptocurrency space, bitcoin (BTC-USD) shed 0.2% in midday activity. Among cryptocurrency ETFs, the ProShares Bitcoin ETF (BITO) added 1.2%. The financial sector also saw gains, with the State Street Financial Select Sector SPDR (XLF) adding 0.7% and the Direxion Daily Financial Bull 3X Shares (FAS) advancing 2.2%. Commodities showed varied movements, with crude oil losing 1.1% and the United States Oil Fund (USO) falling 1.4%, while natural gas added 0.9% and the United States Natural Gas Fund (UNG) gained 0.7%.
