Crypto Market Shudders as Clarity Act Fails Senate Vote
The CLARITY Act aimed to bring clarity to the crypto market, but its passage through the Senate has left investors reeling. A 49-50 cloture vote fell short of the 60 votes needed, and the bill's failure sent shockwaves through the crypto space.
Bitcoin (BTC) crashed by around $2,200 in just 20 minutes, plummeting to $74,900 as $300 million in long positions were liquidated. Ethereum (ETH) also fell sharply, dropping below $2,400. The total value of the crypto market erased nearly $70 billion in a matter of hours.
Crypto stocks weren't spared either. Robinhood Markets (HOOD), Strategy MSTR, Coinbase Global (COIN), Circle Internet Group (CRCL), Hut 8 (HUT), and Bitmine Immersion Technologies (BMNR) all saw sharp declines following the vote.
