Crypto Market's Broad Rally Masks Leadership Gaps and Bull Trap Fears
The crypto market experienced a significant weekly advance, with many assets rising broadly. However, beneath this surface-level success lies a more nuanced story.
According to data from CoinMarketCap, the total capitalization of the crypto market peaked at $2.68 trillion and dipped to $2.6 trillion over the weekend. The top 100 coins showed 86 winners, 13 losers, and one unchanged, with a median gain of approximately +19.11%.
The broad rally was led by XRP, which gained roughly 45%, followed closely by Ether at nearly 28%. Bitcoin dominance remains above 59%, but its share edged slightly lower over the week's final sessions. The advance was accompanied by increased stablecoin circulation and fund flows into specific U.S.-based products.
Despite this breadth, leadership gaps remain within the large-cap screen. BNB, for example, rose only around 14% compared to XRP's 45%. This dispersion among names that are supposed to be similar raises questions about the nature of the advance and whether it will endure or prove a 'bull trap.'
