Crypto Markets Forecast Traditional Market Movements, Warn of SK Hynix Plunge
Decentralized exchanges (DEXs) have proven once again their role in price discovery and serving as an early warning system for traditional markets. SK Hynix, one of the world's largest memory chip suppliers, experienced a flash crash on the Hyperliquid platform.
The price of SK Hynix futures dropped 20% in seconds to $900 before recovering quickly above $1,000, stabilizing around $1,092. This sudden movement happened between 23:00 and 23:01 UTC, just before traditional markets opened.
Exactly one hour after the event on Hyperliquid, when the South Korean stock exchange opened, SK Hynix shares plummeted 15% to 1,550,000 won. The company's American Depositary Receipts trading on Nasdaq also experienced a 4.5% loss in pre-market trading.
The weakening signals in the AI sector affected Nvidia, as its stock fell 5% following news that it would provide massive financial support to an OpenAI-backed project.
