Crypto Markets Show Mixed Trends Amid Regulatory and Institutional Support
The cryptocurrency market is seeing a mixed performance on Tuesday morning, with the overall market capitalization edging slightly higher. Positive factors such as easing bond yields, a weaker U.S. dollar, and reduced expectations of an October rate hike by the Federal Reserve have supported digital asset sentiment. However, the upcoming release of FOMC minutes and outflows from U.S.-listed crypto spot ETF products have introduced some caution into the market.
Sovereign bond yields have declined across various tenors and regions, with the ten-year U.S. Treasury yield dropping 0.85% to 5.268%. The dollar has also retreated, as measured by the six-currency Dollar Index, which fell 0.14% to 102.02. The probability of a Fed rate hike in October has decreased to 21.6%, down from 22.1% the previous day and 50.9% a week earlier.
Regulatory developments have provided some optimism for the crypto market. The Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) sought public comments on proposed rulemaking to regulate crypto asset transactions and markets, aiming to provide clarity and consumer protections. Additionally, institutional support for Bitcoin was highlighted by Strategy Inc (MSTR), which acquired 334 Bitcoins worth $28.7 million between October 1 and October 4, bringing its total holdings to 848,000 Bitcoins.
Among individual cryptocurrencies, Bitcoin (BTC) is trading 0.14% higher at $86,017.92, while Ethereum (ETH) has slipped 0.17% to $2,715.47. Filecoin (FIL) leads overnight gains with a 10.3% surge, while Artificial Superintelligence Alliance (FET) tops overnight losses with a 6.3% decline. Overall trading volumes have increased by 13%, despite the market capitalization rising just 0.06% to $2.93 trillion.
