Crypto Markets Slide After CLARITY Act Fails to Clear Senate Hurdle
The US Senate failed to advance the CLARITY Act, a bill aimed at establishing clearer rules for the digital-asset industry. The legislation fell short of the 60 votes required to move forward, with 49 in favor and 50 against.
This setback has increased regulatory uncertainty for the crypto market, which quickly reacted negatively. Bitcoin dropped below $75,000, while Ethereum's price fell to $3,358. Other major altcoins also declined, with Solana plummeting below $96 and Hyperliquid dropping to $75.
The CLARITY Act was designed to clarify the roles of the SEC and CFTC in regulating digital assets. Its failure to advance means that regulatory uncertainty remains unresolved, at least for now. The Senate vote has paused the progress of the legislation, which may be reconsidered in the future.
