Crypto Markets Surge on SEC Exemption, But Security Risks Loom
The global crypto market cap rose by 1.2% to $2.73 trillion over the past 24 hours, driven in part by the SEC's new Innovation Exemption allowing tokenized NMS stocks to trade on approved venues.
This exemption lifted markets, with Bitcoin reaching $77,488.22 and Ethereum trading at $2,479.74.
Major altcoins also saw significant gains, including BNB (up 3.7% to $751.17), Solana (up 5.9% to $105.68), and Zcash (up 42.3% over the past week to $1,521.04).
However, a security breach using Anthropic's Claude to access OpenAI's internal ChatGPT system highlights systemic security risks for crypto platforms and AI-powered tooling.
