Crypto Markets Tumble Ahead of CPI Release
Crypto markets are bracing for the release of April's consumer price index (CPI) data, which is expected to show headline inflation rising 3.8% year-over-year and 0.6% month-over-month.
Bitcoin's price slipped below $81,000 on Tuesday morning ahead of the CPI reading, with Ethereum leading declines among major cryptocurrencies by falling 2.2% and losing its support at $2,300.
XRP and Solana also declined alongside Bitcoin, but retail sentiment on Stocktwits improved for both assets, with XRP's price trading at around $1.45 and Solana's price just under $95.
