Crypto Meets Wall Street: Traditional Finance Platforms Converge
Crypto and traditional finance (TradFi) platforms are rapidly converging in both directions. The lines between crypto accounts and brokerage accounts are starting to disappear for retail traders.
One of the most notable examples is Coinbase, which is expanding its services beyond spot cryptocurrencies into derivatives, prediction markets, stablecoin payments, tokenized assets, equity-linked products, and potentially single-stock perpetual futures.
Last week, the company filed with the Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) to offer perpetual futures on around 50-60 US stocks, including Apple, Microsoft, Tesla, and Nvidia. If approved, this would be the first time perpetual futures were traded on a regulated US venue.
