Crypto Millionaires Surpass 135,000 as Global Adoption Spreads
The world now has 135,694 crypto millionaires, including over 92,000 whose fortunes are tied to Bitcoin. This figure represents a significant spread of digital-asset wealth globally, with adoption expanding beyond the ultra-rich. According to Henley & Partners' Crypto Wealth Report 2026, this growth in cryptocurrency ownership is reshaping where affluent investors choose to live, bank, and structure their assets.
The report estimates that 290 investors worldwide hold more than $100 million in crypto, while 23 are considered crypto billionaires. Nine of these billionaires derive their wealth from Bitcoin. The broader market stood at about $2.6 trillion as of August 31, with Bitcoin accounting for roughly $1.6 trillion.
The current downturn in the market is notable, with Bitcoin trading around 38% below its October 2025 peak. However, this decline is milder compared to previous major crypto winters, which saw drops exceeding 75%. The report also notes that ownership of digital assets has expanded significantly, with an estimated 742 million people now holding some form of digital asset.
Singapore ranked first in Henley's 2026 Crypto Adoption Index, followed by the UAE, Hong Kong, the U.S., and Switzerland. The UAE scored highest for tax friendliness, while the U.S. received the index's only perfect score for public adoption.
