Crypto Moguls Pour Record-Breaking £72M into Farage's Reform UK Party

Share

Two cryptocurrency industry billionaires have made record-breaking donations to Nigel Farage's Reform UK party. Ben Delo and Christopher Harborne each contributed £36 million, totaling £72 million ($97 million) in just 24 hours.

This massive influx of funds has set a new benchmark for individual political contributions in the United Kingdom. Delo, co-founder of BitMEX, claimed that his donation was an investment in democratic competition and would provide monthly support of £1 million until the 2029 general election.

Harborne, who holds investments in Bitfinex and Tether, explained that he matched Delo's contribution after seeing it. He stated that the funds would enable Reform to compete equally in the upcoming electoral cycle.

The contributions have intensified debate over cryptocurrency industry influence in UK politics, prompting government proposals to prohibit cryptocurrency-based political donations.
