Crypto PAC Fairshake commits $6 million to House candidates for 2026 midterms
The political action committee (PAC) Fairshake, supported by major crypto players like Coinbase, Ripple Labs, and Andreessen Horowitz, has unveiled its initial spending plans for the 2026 US midterm elections. The group announced it would allocate $6 million to back six House of Representatives candidates out of the 32 it plans to support. Fairshake aims to spend over $100 million on ads for House and Senate candidates, with at least $30 million earmarked for Ohio’s Senate race to support Republican Jon Husted against Democrat Sherrod Brown.
Fairshake’s support spans both parties, with 19 Republican and 13 Democratic incumbents receiving backing. Among the candidates, three Republicans and three Democrats will each receive $1 million in spending. These include Oregon Representative Janelle Bynum, California Representative Derek Tran, and Nevada Representative Steven Horsford on the Democratic side, and Arkansas Representative French Hill, Michigan Representative Bill Huizenga, and Wisconsin Representative Bryan Steil on the Republican side.
All 32 candidates endorsed by Fairshake voted in favor of the Digital Asset Market Clarity Act, a bill aimed at defining the roles of US financial agencies in regulating digital assets. The bill failed a crucial Senate vote, leaving its future uncertain. Geoff Vetter, a Fairshake spokesperson, emphasized the group’s focus on pro-crypto candidates who support American innovation. Fairshake reported having $122 million in cash on hand ahead of the midterms, aiming to build the largest pro-crypto caucus in American history.
The consumer advocacy group Public Citizen noted that Fairshake had spent $82 million on ads as of June, representing less than half of the $189 million estimated to come from crypto-aligned advocacy groups and companies.
